Chip

Australian Kelpie - Adult - Male
Adoptable Medium Spayed/NeuteredHousetrained

Chip is a young (2-3 years old) handsome and healthy black and tan Australian Kelpie mix looking for his very own family to love. He was rescued after being discovered curled up in the cold, sleeping on a chair in someone’s back porch. He was starving, but as you can see from his photos, he is a beautiful, healthy and affectionate boy now. As you might imagine, he gets very excited at feeding time because he may still fear that he will not have enough to eat and he gobbles his food up fast. I have fed him next to other dogs, however, and have seen no food aggression from him. He is also house trained. Chip has attended a manners class where he learned to walk nicely on a leash, go to his bed, come when called, sit, and lay down. He is working on stay, as it is so hard for such a happy boy to stay put. Chip has also been through four agility classes so he just needs to practice the obstacles. He absolutely loves people and gets along with some dogs. His foster suggests he might do best in a home with older children, and with dogs his own size, or larger, because of his energy level. Cats are an unknown factor, as Chip has not been around them. He would make the best jogging or hiking partner ever as he has an abundance of energy! Chip is 21 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 35 lbs.

Chip is fully vetted, current on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered and on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Please fill out our online application at hillcrestanimalrescue.org if you would enjoy the company of a beautiful, spunky, active boy like Chip. Is he perfect? Almost.
